OUR BELIEFS
OUR BELIEFS
At The Liberty Church Global, we are a vibrant community united by faith in Jesus Christ and empowered by the Holy Spirit. Our beliefs are founded in the Bible, which we hold as the inspired, infallible, and authoritative Word of God. Here are the core tenets that shape our faith and guide our community:
The Trinity
We believe in one God, existing eternally in three Persons: the Father, the Son (Jesus Christ), and the Holy Spirit. These three are co-equal and co-eternal, working together in creation, salvation, and the guidance of the Church.
- Matthew 28:19 – “Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.”
- 2 Corinthians 13:14 – “The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the communion of the Holy Spirit be with you all.”
Liberated Through the Bible
We affirm the Bible as the inspired, inerrant Word of God, a complete guide for faith and life. Through Scripture, God reveals His will, character, and redemptive plan for humanity.
- 2 Timothy 3:16-17 – “All Scripture is given by inspiration of God… that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work.”
- Psalm 119:105 – “Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path.”
Liberated by Salvation
Salvation is a gift of God’s grace, received through faith in Jesus Christ. Through His atoning death and resurrection, Jesus provided the only way for humanity to be reconciled to God. Salvation involves repentance, acceptance of Jesus as Lord and Saviour, and a life dedicated to following Him.
- Ephesians 2:8-9 – “For by grace you have been saved through faith… it is the gift of God.”
- Romans 10:9 – “If you confess with your mouth, ‘Jesus is Lord,’ and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.”
The Spirit of Liberty
The Holy Spirit is the third Person of the Trinity, active today. We believe in the baptism of the Holy Spirit as an experience distinct from salvation, available to all believers. This baptism empowers us for service, equips us with spiritual gifts, and produces the fruit of the Spirit in our lives.
- Acts 1:8 – “But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be witnesses to Me…”
- Galatians 5:22-23 – “But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control.”
Spiritual Gifts
The Holy Spirit bestows spiritual gifts upon believers to build up the Church and fulfil God’s mission on earth. These gifts—including prophecy, healing, speaking in tongues, and others—remain active and relevant today.
- 1 Corinthians 12:7 – “But the manifestation of the Spirit is given to each one for the profit of all.”
- Romans 12:6 – “Having then gifts differing according to the grace that is given to us, let us use them…”
The Church
The Church is the Body of Christ, comprising all who accept Jesus as Lord and Saviour. We are called to live in community, worship together, and fulfil the Great Commission by making disciples of all nations.
- Ephesians 4:15-16 – “…we are to grow up in all aspects into Him who is the head, even Christ, from whom the whole body… causes the growth of the body.”
- Matthew 28:19-20 – “Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them… teaching them to observe all that I commanded you.”
The Power of the Prophetic
We believe in the prophetic’s power to bring life to barren situations and liberate God’s people.
- 1 Corinthians 14:3 – “But the one who prophesies speaks to people for their strengthening, encouraging, and comfort.”
- Ezekiel 37:4-5 – “Prophesy to these bones, and say to them… ‘I will make breath enter you, and you will come to life.’
Baptism and Communion
We uphold the ordinances of water baptism and Holy Communion as outward signs of inward grace. Baptism by immersion publicly declares faith in Jesus, and Communion is a sacred act of remembering His sacrifice and celebrating our covenant with Him.
- Romans 6:4 – “We were therefore buried with him through baptism into death… just as Christ was raised… we too may live a new life.”
- 1 Corinthians 11:24-25 – “…do this in remembrance of Me.”
Biblical Marriage
We believe marriage is a holy covenant between one man and one woman in a lifelong union instituted by God. Sexual intimacy is a covenant act reserved exclusively for marriage.
- Genesis 2:24 – “Therefore a man shall leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife, and they shall become one flesh.”
- Hebrews 13:4 – “Marriage is honourable among all, and the bed undefiled.”
Liberty in Christ: Living a Holy Life
We are called to live a life of holiness and obedience to God’s Word. This includes daily surrender to Jesus, spiritual growth, and demonstrating Christ-like love in our relationships.
- 1 Peter 1:15-16 – “But just as He who called you is holy, so be holy in all you do; for it is written: ‘Be holy, because I am holy.’”
- Galatians 5:16 – “Walk in the Spirit, and you shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh.”
Sharing Liberty: Evangelism and Missions
We believe in the Church’s responsibility to evangelise and share the good news of Jesus Christ. We are committed to reaching our community, our city, and the world with the message of hope and salvation in Christ.
- Mark 16:15 – “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to all creation.”
- Acts 13:47 – “For this is what the Lord has commanded us: ‘I have made you a light for the Gentiles, that you may bring salvation to the ends of the earth.’”
Our Commitment
- At The Liberty Church London, we are committed to creating a space where people can encounter God, grow in faith, and discover their God-given purpose. Whether you are new to faith or have walked with God for years, there is a place for you in our church family.
- “Now the Lord is the Spirit; and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty.” – 2 Corinthians 3:16-17 NKJV
